I read this book very quickly and even passed it on to my husband to read. I enjoyed it very much. It was discriptive, exciting, and romantic.
I LOVED the ending. Jacob took off again and joined the circus. It really is too bad that his family didn't think how important this would be to him. I am glad he went on his own.
I was Happy to find out he stayed with Marlena. I was prepared for a twist ending where he didn't end up with her.
Rosie the elephant was a heroin. The author really gave her a personality that made me love her and feel sorry for her.
Over all I though it was a great book that I would definetly recommend.
I must say this was one of the best books I have read! It was so descriptive, I felt like I was there, the transitions between his thinking was great. Not confusing and hard to follow.
I LOVED what Rosie did, it was so perfect for her to end up killing August. It would have been to scripted if Jacob would have done it, plus its humerous how Rosie killed him and just put the stake back in the ground like nothing happened :)
I also was glad that he ended up with Marlena, I had a feeling it would happen just thought maybe they would be chased by August for an ex amount of time - it was neat that they both were so protective of Rosie and all the horses. It helped them join Ringling.
The ending was amazing! It was so cool that Jacob just took himself down to the circus and got a front row seat. That manager was an amazing person to take him under and refer to him as his father to ward off the police. He had a big heart to do that and to bring him along to collect tickets. I could feel the expression of joy on Jacobs face! That act of kindness took place of all the neglect his children/grandchildren have shown him over the years.
Awesome book! I'll be passing it on to mom and Kayda!
I loved Rosie - so sweet and innocent. Broke my heart everytime August beat on her. I'm glad rosie got her revenge.
I also wondered if Marlena and Jacob were really going to end up together - so happy they did. I loved the comment about when Jacob was talking about bailng his kids out of jail and also once Bobo LOL.
I was so proud of Jacob for taking himself to the circus and pissed at his family for neglecting him. During the end when Jacob was telling his story to the manager I had this moment of wondering if somehow he was a decendent of either August or Uncle Al and something bad was going to happen to him but gladly no, great ending - back to the circus!
I felt so bad for camel and most of all Walter... pushed from the train, injured and left for dead to be eaten by something... Although - if the others were fine enough to walk away and return why couldn't they carry lil walkter back...?
I do wish we could have gotten more info about Marlena after they got married and their life together... It would have been cool if some of the chapters were from Marlena's point of view...
